Lower Slaughter is beautiful to walk through and once voted the most romantic street in Britain. No real attractions, just the beauty of the village. There is The Old Mill, now a café and a 13th century steepled church. The village though small is a real treat. Stop at the country pub on the side of the river. Opposite the pub is the beautiful Manor House Hotel, that might have earlier been a nunnery. A fantastic place to stay if you are planning on a few nights in the Cotswolds.
Both Slaughter villages lie on the tiny stream called The Eye. The name Slaughter is an old English name for wet or muddy land, known as Slothre.
