Stonehenge is located near the small Ancient town of Amesbury in the rolling hills of the West Wiltshire countryside.
The true meaning of this ancient, awe-inspiring formation has been lost in the mists of time. Was Stonehenge a temple for solar veneration, a hub for ritual healing, a burial site or perhaps a huge lunar calendar? One of the great mysteries is how the stones got here. How did our ancestors manage to move these immense stones from so far away and then, using only rudimentary hand tools, construct and position this astonishing structure?
The Stonehenge Complex is owned by English heritage and provides a number of additional facilities including Audio Tour devices in a variety of languages, Gift shop with unique souvenirs and literature. Toilet facilities and refreshments are also on-site.
