Cardiff is approximately 60 miles from Bath and is the capital of Wales. The journey is usually via the M4 motorway which takes us across the Second Severn Crossing now also known as the Prince of Wales Bridge. Travel time to Cardiff centre from Bath is usually 1 hour and 15 mins but may increase somewhat during rush hour periods.
There are superb views over the Severn estuary when crossing the bridge and the high peaks of the Brecon Beacons can also be seen in the distance. The Severn estuary is incredibly wide and has one of the highest tidal ranges in the world ( approx. 50ft. )
Cardiff is of significant historical importance with human settlements dating back to 6000BC. Right in the centre of the city is Cardiff Castle, which was founded Norman times and is a worthwhile attraction to visit whilst in the city. Cardiff also is the home of the famous Millennium football and rugby stadium and is regarded as one of the best shopping cities in the UK.
Currently Cardiff does not have a clean air zone, but the project is under consideration by Cardiff City Council.
